Welcome to the 11th Annual Shrimp Festival on September 15, 2012.  This festival was created in 2001 to help promote Southern Illinois Prawn Growers.  These Southern Illinois Grown Prawn will be served up in a variety of ways or you may purchase them by the pound to be enjoyed later.
              
Along with the fantastic foods, we will also have some of our local Wineries here again for you to sample or purchase some the delicious varieties of grape.
  

As always there will be plenty to do from a buggy ride to a trip aboard the Shawnee Queen River Taxi or maybe a ride in the sky aboard a Central Illinois Aviation Helicopter.  You can always just sit back and relax with family and friends to enjoy any of the three (3) live bands that will be performing through out the day.

Every year the Shrimp Festival has continued to grow and this is a direct result of the many hours of work by Mainstreet Golconda, local prawn growers, vendors, sponsors, entertainers, and many volunteers.  Each year we have exceeded our expectations and hope that this year will be no different.
    

Please enjoy the day in Golconda and don’t overlook its many attributes such as our 19th Century buildings, the walk bridge, taking you from the rivers edge to the beautiful Golconda Marina.
   

It is the hope of Mainstreet Golconda that each person attending the Annual Shrimp Festival leaves with a wonderful memory to take with them and plans of returning again.
